For med spa owners

Cryotherapy for Med Spas

Cryo facials, localized aesthetics and whole-body sessions: a service line your booked clients can buy today, without another provider hour on the schedule.

The operating reality

What holds a med spa's revenue down

You know these three walls. Cryotherapy is interesting precisely because it goes around them.

The ceiling

Revenue is chained to provider hours

Injectables and aesthetic treatments only earn while a licensed provider is in the room. When the calendar is full, growth stops unless you add services that do not need another provider hour.

The gap

Clients disappear between cycles

Treatment cycles have quiet months built in. Without a reason to visit between them, clients drift, and reactivating them costs real marketing money.

The crowd

Every spa sells the same menu

When the services match, clients shop on price. Standing out takes a service the spa down the street cannot copy by ordering the same product catalog.

The guide

3 steps to a successful luxury salon or day spa

Starting and running a luxury salon or day spa is challenging, but it comes with perks. According to Lynne McNees, president of the International Spa Association (ISA) when this guide was first published, the industry is recession proof. These are the steps that build a successful spa.

Step 01

Create a business plan

Like most businesses, a spa needs a solid business plan to succeed. A good plan helps you anticipate costs, risks and revenues, and gives you a road map to build and grow the business.

  • List the services you want to offer. The spa industry can be very lucrative, but it is extremely competitive, and some spas fail simply because they lack a competitive strategy. The spas that compete best offer a variety of services that complement one another.
  • Pick a spa or salon type and offer packages. Services usually group into categories such as skin and body care, hair removal and makeup. Focusing on one category focuses your marketing and can grow sales and income.
  • Buy the right equipment. Study your target market’s needs before you choose equipment. Choosing carefully can increase your potential profits and the return on your investment.
Step 02

Pick a target audience

A specific customer segment lets you target your services and converts better. A luxury spa can target women, men, or couples and groups, and the more targeted your audience, the more likely you are to turn them into paying customers.

Study your potential segment against your resources (location, services and products). You will understand your customers’ needs better and reach a better product-market fit.

Step 03

Attract new clients

  • Offer an exciting new service. Successful spas keep studying their customers and adding new services to retain them and attract new clientele. More and more luxury spas now offer cryotherapy to stay competitive, because it is a service people are showing real interest in.
  • Create new marketing packages. A new service means new packages, email campaigns, social posts and web pages. It can also bring new search traffic, because new keywords on your pages get your business found for new searches.
  • Promote it on social media. Followers tire of the same posts. Post about your new cryotherapy service, explain what it is, and invite clients to try it.
  • Find people already looking for cryotherapy. Join cryotherapy, fitness and athletics groups online, invite interested people to your spa, and answer questions on Q&A sites such as Quora to build your brand.

What cryo changes

A treatment room that earns without a provider

  • Cryo facials and localized aesthetics with the handheld XR ISO: -80° precision cooling, ready in 30 seconds, rolled room to room on a cart
  • Whole-body sessions take 2–3 minutes, so they slot between existing appointments instead of competing with them
  • A reason to visit between treatment cycles, keeping clients on your calendar year round
  • Onboard point of sale, memberships and client management, so the new line runs inside your existing flow

The revenue opportunity

Sell it three ways

Single sessions for walk-ins and add-ons, packages bundled with the treatments you already sell, and memberships that smooth revenue between cycles. For scale, the client’s worked example: 20 treatments a day at a $40 average ticket grosses $24,000 a month.

2–3 min
Whole-body session, easy to slot between appointments
30 s
XR ISO ready for the next cryo facial
$24,000
Monthly gross in the worked example: 20 sessions/day at $40

Spa owner questions

Frequently asked questions

ROI basics: how do I profit from cryo?

Luxury spa owners ask an honest question: how do I make money and earn a profitable return on my investment in a cryosauna? Whether you decide to purchase a single unit or multiple units, our ROI Calculator can help you project how soon your investment will become profitable.

How much space is required at my spa?

The XR Cryosauna requires minimal space. Spas have effectively used the XR in rooms as small as 8' x 10', and depending on how your spa is designed you may be able to use a corner of a large room. Our own showroom houses the XR in less than 9' x 7' of space, including a 230 liter liquid nitrogen tank.

How do I find liquid nitrogen for my cryosauna?

Cryo Innovations locates and connects spa owners with liquid nitrogen suppliers in all 50 states. Because liquid nitrogen is used in every hospital, veterinary office, university and dermatology clinic, it is readily available in your city. Unlike other medical-grade gases, nitrogen is plentiful: it is 78% of the air we breathe.

Who will install the cryosauna?

Upon purchase, the Cryo Innovations team can personally install your machine. We train your staff on exactly how to operate it, and test and register each staff member to ensure every safety protocol is followed. We also train your engineering and HVAC teams to ensure your city codes and permitting are strictly followed.
